Welcome to JOBE Performance aluminum air intake systems and truck accesories web site. Our goal as a company is to offer the highest quality all aluminum air intake systems and air boxes. We use the highest quality aerospace aluminum on all of our applications. I was inspired to build high quality intake systems after seeing the poor quality steel and plastic that most of the competition is offering.
Intake systems and air boxes should be made of aluminum for many reasons. The main reason is heat. Systems made of steel can actually raise underhood and air intake temperatures. All of our intake tubing and support brackets are made of 6061 T6, a very strong and light aluminum. We lightly polish all of the tubing to enhance the looks of every unit. The sides are made of 6062 14 guage sheet aluminum with a natural satin finish. The bottom of the 7.3 system supports the internal battery. All of these floors have fully polished 1.45mm aluminum diamond plate floors. This material is very light, has excellent rigidity and our customers say they love the look.
Every unit comes with a 1000ca battery FREE. I designed this unit with a battery in the air box because using the stock or lead acid battery inside the intake is not smart. If your truck is breathing lead acid vapors, or if a battery goes bad or even blows up, you ensure that those damaging lead acid vapors go to your filter, turbo, intercooler, engine , and exhaust. The factory airbox leaks lead acid vapors into the airbox. Some of the competition has their high flow units using your stock battery inside the air box. This is not a good idea and can have drastic consequences. For example look at the cloth wrap on the battery on the passenger side of the truck. It usualy deteriorates quickly from these vapors. Don't get me wrong, your truck hopefully won't have problems like this. I just think it's a bad idea, that's all. So, enjoy the battery. It really is a safety precaution. Optima batteries are solid, spillproof, and can be mounted in any position. Most importantly they can not cause damage or cause corrosion. We now offer a choice of batteries with the 7.3L system. 1000 ca Red top, 880ca Yellow top or Blue top deep cycle batteries.
All of our air filters are supplied by S&B. The most trusted name in aftemarket air filters. Banks uses S&B filter media in their kits as well. My filters come with a stainless steel top. Filters are washable reusable and have a lifetime warranty. The chrome top drum is a massive 8in. drum with only 1 inch of taper and was designed to be used on boosted applications. The K&N filter with the black powdercoated top has a massive 8 3/4 in. base that tapers only 1 in. This filter has a funnel top with a hole in the middle(no filter material on top). This hole stabilizes airflow and decreases intake turbulance(for offroad or racing purposes only). The hole can also be used for a restriction guage, and is a great place to inject propane , methanol ,etc.
Many competitors claim K & N filters do not filter as well as "their brand". This simply is true. If you want the best filtration and the best performance use a filter wrap. Filter wraps will give you maximium filtration and maximum power while leaving your filter in pristeen condition. Others claim an inverted cone shape makes the filter work better. Studies show that inverted cones do offer more filter material but there is turbulance created from inverted cones. Turbulance robs the ability for maximum airflow. If a filter is going to filter from the top it should be flat or raise slightly. This reduces turbulance and air tumble inside the filter.
Our system has our patented "rifiling" at the air inlet and at the Hi-Flow crankcase ventilator. "Rifiling" is just what it sounds like. Grooves along the wall spinning the air. Some of you may have seen air spinning devices in other adds or sites. This concept of spinning air through tubing does seem to work. Our tests show that you can get as much as 30% more flow by spinning the air. We have also noticed a trend to spin the air in a clockwise direction. This is a problem because the 7.3L Ford's turbo inhales in a counterclockwise motion. We have addressed this situation by making our 7.3L system spin counterclockwise. The result is one you will actually hear, see, and feel! Our customers tell me that they can actually hear the air spinning! If you have a turbo upgrade that inhales clockwise tell us and we will reverse the rifiling.
My background comes from road racing superbikes. I have real world experience working with lightweight alloys, fabricating, running a race team, racing, modifying engines and searching for more power. I have worked on, ridden, and raced some of the most exotic motorcycles in the world. I hope to take some of this technology and apply it to turbo diesel engines. My knowledge of air flow enables my company to build the highest flowing intakes on the market. Our concept of air delivery is "Straight is better".Follow the path of least restriction. Bends are very restrictive, rob power, and make your turbo work to breathe. By removing the bends your turbo can spend its energy on output, not input.
